Message for TCSS Students and Families
TCSS Students and Families,
Please see the message below from The Alabama Association of School Resource Officers, stressing the dangers of reposting or sharing unverified information on social media. This has been a problem lately across our state. Families, please discuss this with your students.
If you ever believe there may be a threat to school or student safety, alerting law enforcement or a school administrator is what you should do. This is one of the most important actions anyone can take to keep our schools safe. You may also use our confidential Speak Up for Safety line, if you have a safety concern to share.

From The Alabama Association of School Resource Officers:
"If you see something on social media concerning school safety, talk to your SRO and Administration if you have concerns. Reposting or spreading unverified information could overshadow a true threat that needs to be investigated.
Many schools are investigating school threats and school hoaxes and almost all have stemmed from unintended, poor choices made by students on social media.
Several arrests have been made all over Alabama this week concerning social media posts. The consequences you and your child may face are based on the impact of their actions, not their intent.
Parents should know what their kids are doing on their devices. Who they are talking to, what they post and what they watch.
Parents should speak to their children about the seriousness of sharing false claims, making threats, and spreading hoaxes on social media. Children need to understand the serious consequences of doing so."
